Udac is a nonprofit organization licensed and regulated by
the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services, and receives
funding from St. Louis County, the federal Medical Assistance program,
other public sources and private contributions.
We’re
pretty lucky here at Udac, because on a daily basis we see people
use the power of human spirit to overcome paralyzing adversity.
We see people conquer incredible obstacles. We see people who might
otherwise be overlooked.
The people we serve include those who have Down Syndrome, Traumatic
Brain Injury, physical challenges resulting from injury, and developmental
disabilities ranging from moderate to severe.
We provide individuals with transportation services,
employment, senior services, and opportunities for recreation and
artistic expression. But what makes us unique is that we offer people
the chance to be themselves.
We help people who are age 18 and older, and as they age, we continue
to work with them to help them deal with the added challenges of
getting older.
No
matter where they are in life, the people we serve are complex,
multi-faceted individuals who, like the rest of us, want to be recognized
for all that they are and all that they can do. We give them that
recognition. We show them how to express themselves and uncover
the simple joys of working and living. We give them options and
opportunity. We help them realize their potential, and they take
advantage of it, living every day to the fullest.
