If you want to get out and exercise with some UMD athletes, Saturday is your chance!
The 11th annual Walk a Mile in Our Shoes fundraiser is coming up on Saturday. Organized by UDAC, the event at UMD’s Malosky Stadium raises money to help people of all abilities.
This year, instead of the STEPS Fitness Center, transportation is the focus of the funding.
Monica Hendrickson, a spokeswoman for UDAC, said, “We are really excited about this year’s event. All of the monies will go towards accessible transportation.”
Dale “Hoagie” Haagenson is the Honorary Chair this year. He’s the longest serving volunteer with UMD Athletics, putting in 37 years! “Make a difference, walk a mile,” he told us. He really enjoys walking with the Bulldogs.
And last year’s Honorary Chair, Bill Watson, added, “Just seeing all the individuals out here, it’s really cool. UMD gets out and participates. It’s huge. A huge impact. We’ve felt it with our family, with our son Patrick. It’s a tremendous opportunity, and get to meet a lot of new people.”
Registration is at 9am, with the walk starting at 9:30am.
